One of the common types of building structures is retaining walls. They are used to prevent the sideslopes of roads and railways from collapsing, in construction of the sea and river berths, embankments, breakwaters and lock chambers, to protect shores against erosion, and to strengthen the foundations of pits and trenches. Development of the market economy and transition of building production from costly methods of management and development resulted in replacement of the costly, resource-intensive retaining walls of a gravity type that were made of natural stone, monolithic and precast reinforced concrete by thin transport structures made of welded pipe sheet piles. Implementation of the innovative construction projects which use the steel pipe sheet piles produced by Trest Zapsibgidrostroy has ensured creation and rapid development of the transport infrastructure of a number of the RF regions, a stable operation of the passenger and freight sea transport, the river transport, and delivery of equipment for exploration and development of the hydrocarbon deposits in the Khanty-Mansi and Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrugs of the RF.
